This weekend was a big G&S weekend. On Saturday I had lots of meetings about the upcoming shows: interviewing candidates for prod staff positions and talking to the directors about what needs to be done.
On Sunday I went to help with put-in for The Secret Garden, which opens on Friday. This show is in Kresge Little Theatre, which has one distinct advantage over Sala, our usual space, in that it is actually a theatre. This meant that we only had to carry flats that form the background, not the platforms on which the actors will be standing. We were thus out of our set shop in about half an hour, and the rest of the day progressed similarly quickly.
It was a slight hassle to put up the flats because the lights were in the way, but we managed it. Painting went quickly, and we actually dismissed the cast around 2:30 because there was nothing left that needed so many hands: usually we keep them until 5, and send them home then just because we say we will, not because they'd be useless.
I stayed until 8 or so to lend a hand, then went home satisfied, and looking forward to seeing the show on Thursday.
