Thursday 15th, Old Bar
We had a nice quiet day with Carl (Ang had to work). Tom and I played some cards including a rather epic game of Spit. We also walked down to the beach, although we decided to keep walking on paths rather than on the sand. Some delicious pizzas made by Carl and helpers filled us up that evening.
Friday 16th, Old Bar to Arundel
We spent most of Friday in the car, driving north along the Pacific Highway. After a slightly tiring but pretty easy trip, we arrived at Sharon's place in Arundel. She had cooked spaghetti bolognaise, along with yummy chocolate-covered strawberries for dessert. She also made a chilli hot chocolate for Tom and me after dinner.
Saturday 17th, Arundel to Rothwell
In the morning Dad's cousin and cousin-in-law and their daughters came to say hello. Tom proved a big hit with his little second cousin. We chatted for quite some time over a lovely breakfast and a little morning tea, before heading north once again. After passing through/past Brisbane, we had lunch and watched skydivers come in, while dismally failing to complete the DA cryptic crossword (we managed about half a dozen words). We ended up with Jenny and her children, who have grown up a lot since the time I really remember them. We enjoyed a barbecue and parallel games of five hundred, before scattering all around the house for the night.
Sunday 18th, Rothwell to Coolum
After Mass in Rothwell, we continued to Deception Bay to see Greg. It was a very pleasant day, so we wandered over to a park for a barbecue and basketball. Tom proved himself the best shot, although Greg would have rivalled him had he not given us a ten point start by chatting with the other adults. Late in the afternoon, we continued on our northern trajectory, reaching Coolum in time to share some fish and chips with Meg and Rai. They have a very nice house in a pleasant area, but it doesn't really suit them now so they'll be on the move again soon (it seems like they only just moved into this house, although it was actually five years ago!).
